1 Killed, 2 Injured in Washington Car Accident | King County Car Accident Law Office

Tragedy can strike at any point on the road. As a Seattle car accident lawyer and Bellevue wrongful death attorney I know how two seconds of instability can alter a person’s life forever. A small lapse in a driver’s judgment left one dead and two others with severe injuries.

On Tuesday, August 17th at roughly 2:30 an accident occurred on State Route 104 about a mile West of Hood Canal bridge. According to the state patrol 67-year-old David M. Bodkin of Marrowstone Island was driving a 21-foot Chinook motorhome Westbound on State Route 104. At mile post 11.7 the motorhome crossed the center line while navigating a corner and then jerked the motorhome back.

17-year-old Katherine K. Duff-Dings of Bellevue, Washington was driving a Lexus RS330 SUV eastbound out of the curve and swerved toward the left in a desperate attempt to avoid a collision with Bodkin’s motorhome.

This attempt failed and the cars collided in the westbound lane. Bodkin’s motorhome rotated 180 degrees and rolled into the westbound lane’s ditch as the Lexus stopped near the center of the road.

Bodkin was reported dead at the scene. Two teens from the Lexus had to be removed by emergency responders. The driver, Duff-Dings, was transported by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center suffering serious internal injuries as well as injuries to both legs and her neck. A passenger in the Lexus, Anastasia P. Baucke, 17 also of Bellevue was airlifted with her left hand and arm broken.

I wish these two young ladies a quick recovery and offer my condolences to the family of David Bodkin. Car accidents such as these are never easy to deal with and even for those that survive the traumatic experience can leave them scared for life.
