5 Year-Old-Boy Killed in Car Crash | Seattle Wrongful Death Law Firm
In my line of work as a King County car crash attorney at a Bellevue personal injury law firm I cannot emphasis enough the importance of proper seat belt use- especially for children. There are reasons for laws requiring child car seats and booster seats as they are highly effective in saving lives. Sadly, this point doesn’t always hit home- as a young life was taken this week in a Seattle car accident due to the lack of proper safety restraint. An accident on August 8th has left a 5 year old Toppenish boy dead and his mother facing vehicular homicide charges. The boy died shortly after 9:30 p.m. Monday the 9th after being involved in an accident the previous morning on Yost Road east of Olden Way. The accident occurred when the boy’s mother s mother, a 24-year-old woman, turned the vehicle sharply sending the vehicle rolling off the road. According to police, the young boy was ejected from the car because he was not restrained properly. The mother, who was wearing a seatbelt, was uninjured in the accident. The roads are often dangerous and unpredictable and with thousands dying in car accidents every year all we can do to secure our own safety is follow laws and remain focused behind the wheel. After all, vehicle laws are there for a reason- to help protect us. Our thoughts go out to the family dealing with this horrible incident. It is never easy to deal with the loss of a loved one particularly in a situation such as this when the child is so young and defenseless. Because I am all too familiar with the shock and pain of these situations I have written a book with attorney Patrick J. Kang called: “In Case of Death: Straight Talk on Washington Wrongful Death”. This book is meant to help those dealing with these horrible situations to know what steps they need to take and what recourse is available to them. This book is free to Washington State residents at the link above. Leave a Reply |
