Alcohol Suspected in Everett Crash
There are many different causes of car accidents, but one of the most common is due to drunk driving. As an Everett car crash lawyer, and Bellevue personal injury attorney I’ve seen numerous cases of accidents involving alcohol which have left the victims severely injured. According to NHTSA, there were over 10,000 people killed in drunk driving accidents in 2009. While this is the lowest number in decades for drunk driving fatalities, it’s still an unacceptable statistic. With tens of thousands of people dying in auto accidents every year, the ones that involve alcohol make up nearly one third of them. Fortunately, not all drunk driving car crashes result in fatalities, but in most cases, they at least cause severe personal injury. There was an accident in Everett on Tuesday, January 25th with alcohol suspected to be the cause. A 26-year-old van driver with probable impaired judgment backed into the Cruise America RV building in the 12200 block of Highway 99. During the crash, a 6-year-old boy sustained facial injuries and was taken to Harborview Medical Center. His 45-year-old mother suffered from arm injuries requiring surgery the following day. Also, an employee of Cruise America RV suffered from minor injuries that were treated at a local hospital. Auto accidents that result from bad weather conditions or obstacles in the road are unfortunate, but car crashes caused by drunk drivers are simply devastating. Many of these types of accidents end in fatalities. However, even more end with victims sustaining personal injuries, sometimes with long-lasting effects. Drivers need to understand the risks on the road and exercise sound judgment while driving.
