Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run | Seattle Pedestrian Accident Lawyer

Taking responsibility for injuring another person can be difficult to do. The shame is scathing and the legal reprimands are fierce. Yesterday at 3:45 p.m., a 49-year-old Connecticut man was riding his bicycle on Dexter Avenue North and Thomas Street. According to a witness, the bicyclist was in a designated bicycle lane when he was struck by a SUV that was trying to turn left onto Thomas. The SUV had been waiting in the road to turn when oncoming cars began approaching. Jeff Kappel of the Seattle Police Department says the driver quickly made the turn and hit the bicyclist on the way. A doctor on the scene gave the bicyclist CPR but the King County Medical Examiner’s Office reports that he died this morning.

The driver fled and remains at large. Investigators say the SUV was cleanly-kept, brown, and American-made, with tinted windows and a chrome rack on the roof. It was last seen heading east on Thomas. If you see this vehicle, contact 9-1-1 so they can dispatch an officer immediately. Until the police find him, his immorality will undoubtedly haunt him.
