Bizarre Auto Accident Sends Renton Pedestrian to Harborview | Washington Personal Injury and Wrongful Death Lawyer

A tow rope and negligence were the causes of a strange auto accident involving a pedestrian that caused a 44 year old Renton man to be sent to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Thursday morning. The Renton pedestrian suffered severe life-threatening personal injuries.

At about 10:41 on Renton Avenue South and 62nd Avenue South, a pickup truck was towing another car, with a driver inside, using a nylon rope. These two cars were traveling on Renton Avenue South, while the 44-year old pedestrian was crossing the street at the same time. The driver of the truck made a right hand turn, but the man in the car being towed failed to make this same turn and continued to go straight. Because the two cars were now going in separate directions, the tow rope expanded, caught the leg of the pedestrian and caused him to fall and hit his head on the pavement.

After investigation, it was determined that both drivers were not impaired by any substance. In any case, they were no doubt being negligent and should be held responsible for their careless actions. We must remember to always be cautious and alert when crossing streets in heavy traffic, especially in rainy weather and on wet pavement. However, you usually don’t expect be hit by a rapidly expanding tow cable. The two drivers should have called a professional tow truck instead of using their makeshift method.
