A 50-year-old man drove through a red light and veered off the road, hitting a power pole. He then struck the boy who was riding a razor scooter with friends. The impact threw the boy twenty feet. The incident happened at about 3 p.m.

The child suffered several serious injuries and was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he is listed in critical condition.

The driver was taken to Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland. The vehicle also hit a second bike, but no other people were injured. Investigators are trying to determine what may have caused the crash.
