Car Crashes Through Barrier, Lands 10 ft Below on I-5
Last year in Washington State over 16,000 people were arrested for drinking and driving. As a Bothell personal injury attorney working at a Seattle auto accident law firm, it is my job to take care of the victims of reckless driving accidents. When you drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol you not only put your life in danger, you endanger the lives of every other person that is on the road with you. Drinking and driving can easily ruin your life, but it seems that regardless of the severe consequences people are still getting behind the wheel intoxicated. Case in point, around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning a 23-year-old man drove through a barrier and flew off NE 80th street in North Seattle crashing onto I-5. After flying off the road the Volvo landed on I-5, causing the frame to bend, the tires to deflate and the rear window to blow out. But the driver was lucky; he didn’t sustain any serious injuries and was conscious when police showed up at the scene. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Seattle Police are investigating the incident as a possible case of drunk driving, because although there was no evidence as far as bottles or empty cans, troopers could smell alcohol on his breath at the scene. Other factors may have been involved, but if the driver were intoxicated he could have very easily avoided this auto accident by not getting behind the wheel. Fortunately for the driver of the Volvo, no other cars were on I-5 at the time of the crash and he only injured himself, but he could have easily injured or killed another person because of his negligence. I can only hope that if nothing else, the driver involved in this accident never drives under the influence again.
