Distracted Driver Hits Louisiana Teen | Seattle Car Accident Lawyer
Distracted driving is a serious problem in this country killing hundreds of people every single year. Working at a Seattle auto accident law firm I have seen the devastating effects of an auto accident caused by distracted driving. I have seen teenagers killed because they crashed while trying to send a friend a text message and I have helped victims suffering from personal injuries or the wrongful death of a family member after being hit by a distracted driving. A Louisiana man was arrested Saturday after fleeing the scene of two separate auto accidents Friday night that left one 17-year-old Justin Beck in the hospital. 34-year-old Andrew Williams first ran into a car in the parking lot of a bar he was leaving Friday night, on his way home he was texting when he crashed into Beck who was walking his bike alongside the road. But instead of stopping to make sure that Beck was ok or even still alive, Williams sped away and drove home. The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office was able to identify Williams as the suspect and his pickup truck had damage that was consistent with both accidents. After the arrest Williams admitted to both crashes and was booked into Livingston Parish prison with charges of reckless driving, negligent injuring, texting while driving and two counts of hit and run. Beck has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home but considering how much worse this pedestrian collision could have been and Williams is lucky that Beck is alive. No text message is worth your life let alone someone else’s life and Williams’ negligent driving could have easily caused a lot more damage than it did. Leave a Reply |
