Distracted Driving Causes Teen to Crash Into School Bus

Yesterday a 17-year-old boy was driving a minivan on Horne Road in Benton City when he crossed into oncoming traffic because he wasn’t paying attention. He ended up crashing head-on into a school bus that had four high school students on it along with the driver. The young boy, who was believed to have not been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the auto accident, was rushed to Kadlec Hospital where he is currently in serious condition after suffering major internal injuries. A student from the bus was also transported to the hospital to be treated for a head injury. Benton City police believe that the teen driver was looking at students on a nearby sidewalk and didn’t see the bus.

I know that when most people hear the term distracted driving they think of texting or talking on a cell phone, but distracted driving can come in many different forms. In this case the driver was distracted by people standing on the sidewalk and drove straight into oncoming traffic.
