Drunk Man on Scooter Crashes Outside Police Station

Scooters can be a fun and easy way to get around town; they can also be extremely economical during times like these when gas is slowly climbing back up to $4 a gallon. But just because they look like a lot of fun doesn’t make them any less dangerous; especially when a drunk driver is behind wheel. Saturday morning a 52-year-old man in Burlington decided that although he was drunk he would be fine riding his scooter through town; he was sorely mistaken. The man was riding through a roundabout heading east on Josh Wilson Road when he hit a curb and crashed to the ground. The accident happened within sight of the Washington State Patrol office and officers were immediately on the scene. Fortunately this irresponsible driver didn’t hurt any innocent people, but the personal injuries that he sustained himself were bad enough to have to transport him to Harborview Medical Center. The man faces possible DUI charges when he is finally released from the hospital.

It seems that no matter how harsh we make the laws for DUI people still seem to think that they can get away with it. Over 10,000 people were killed nationwide in alcohol related auto accidents in 2009, but nothing seems to be able to stop a person from getting behind the wheel or climbing onto their scooter drunk.
