Drunk Truck Driver Causes Huge Accident | Seattle Car Crash Lawyer

Choosing to drive drunk is a decision that affects everyone who, by chance, happen to share the road with you at that time. Certainly some times and places are riskier than others (New Years Eve in the suburbs, for example), but who would have thought that a quiet Tuesday night in Bothell would end with a catastrophic accident? Bothell was a busy place for Washington State Patrol troopers after midnight this morning. First, a semi-truck going down a ramp from State Route 522 onto I-405 lost control and hit light poles and a guard rail, causing cement debris to fall down on the lanes of traffic below it. Trooper Julie startup reports that this resulted in three additional accidents, involving six vehicles total. These auto accidents backed up multiple lanes of traffic, and as a woman went in to labor as she waited for the debris to be cleared, medics had to be dispatched to her. Fortunately, she was transported to the hospital before the baby arrived, and by 7 a.m. all lanes at the I-405/SR 522 interchange were reopened.

The driver of the semi, a 30-year-old from Idaho, is being held at King County Jail on suspicion of DUI and falling asleep at the wheel. His poor driving has illustrated for all those who received minor injuries to those backed up in traffic just how interconnected all people are. When we get behind the wheel drunk, we might not be able to see all the faces of the people we are going hurt, but that doesn’t mean their safety isn’t linked to our actions.
