Dump Truck Crashes into 8 Motorcyclists | Seattle Motorcycle Accident Lawyer

As a Seattle motorcycle accident and Washington personal injury lawyer, I have seen some very bizarre and disastrous car accidents. However, I have never heard of anything like the one that took place in Arizona on Thursday.

A dump truck drove into a group of eight motorcyclists causing a horrific scene. The motorcycles were stopped at a red light behind an SUV and a pickup truck, when the dump truck crashed into the motorcycles and hit the SUV.

The motorcycle accident occurred at about 1 p.m. at the intersection of 27th Avenue and the Carefree Highway.

Witnesses say it was a devastating scene. Some of the motorcycles caught fire under the dump truck. Motorcycle parts were scattered all over the area, along with the belongings of the motorists.

Some witnesses say the impact threw the motorcycles 50 to 75 yards from the stop light.

Three of the motorcyclists were killed and the rest were very seriously injured. Officials report Phoenix Fire Captain Ernie Lizarraga suffered the worst injuries. The victims were airlifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The 50 year-old driver of the dump truck was not injured in the collision. At this point, there is no reason to believe the driver was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

The roadways were closed for several hours as investigators collected evidence and cleared the scene.
