Fatal Auto Accident Caused By Racing | Auburn Auto Accident Attorney
There is nothing that tears a Kent auto accident attorney and Renton wrongful death lawyer apart more than an accident caused by a negligent driver. Every year there are 46,000 fatal auto accidents which could have easily be prevented had there not been a drunk driver, distracted driver or reckless driver on the road. And what’s worse is that innocent bystanders are often the ones that pay. An accident that occurred early yesterday morning, December 5th has left a man facing potential vehicular homicide charges. Shortly after 3 am Sunday a three car accident occurred on Westbound SR 516 west of Meeker Street. A Chevy Malibu driven by a 24-year-old Yakima woman lost control hitting the side of a Honda Passport, the Passport was then struck from behind by a Honda Civic. The driver of the Civic was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene along with the driver of the Malibu. A 28-year-old passenger in the Malibu was rushed to Harborview Medical Center where he remains in critical condition. The driver of the Civic is currently in critical condition and is in custody under suspicion of racing. It is suspected that the Malibu and Civic were racing at the time of the accident and the driver of the Passport who lost his life was just a victim in this fatal auto accident. It is also suspected that alcohol or drugs contributed to the accident. The investigation is still under way and it is unknown how fast the two cars were traveling. Speed and drunk driving are the leading causes of fatal auto accidents and lead to thousands of accident fatalities every year. Sadly, these accidents are easily prevented by simply obeying traffic laws, not drinking and driving and obeying posted speed limits.
