Fatal Bicycle Accident Triggers Suicide | Seattle Personal Injury Law Firm
Tragedy can strike at any moment and nobody is immune to falling victim or causing a fatal auto accident. Sadly, as a Seattle car accident attorney and Tacoma Bicycle Accident Lawyer fighting for those who find themselves in these horrible situations I have come to realize that one small mistake on the road can change a life forever. Not only do these incidents affect those who suffer severe injuries or die- they also emotionally damage the lives of those who suffer little physical injury in the auto accident. Sunday, September 12th a fatal bicycle accident claimed the life of a cyclist and sent the driver to suicide. The fatal bicycle accident occurred in Enumclaw on 228th Avenue Southeast and 444th Street around 2 a.m. Sunday. After celebrating his 21st birthday the victim in this fatal bicycle accident jumped on his bicycle, riding on a rural road to pick up his pick-up truck at a farm nearby. While riding he was struck by a truck and instantly killed. The 24-year-old driver of the truck recognized the deceased cyclist as his the friend he had just celebrated with. After this harsh realization, the driver retreated back into his truck and fatally shot himself. Our thoughts go to the families of both victims in this tragic accident. Even if a driver is not at fault in a fatal auto accident it can take a large psychological toll. The guilt of taking another’s life or simply surviving a fatal auto accident can leave an individual dealing with emotional damage for the rest of their life. This condition called Survivor syndrome can lead to such massive guilt that severe depression or suicide is often a sad result.
