Hit-And-Run Accident Kills Two | Pierce County Personal Injury Lawyer

In my career as a Bellevue motorcycle accident attorney and Seattle personal injury lawyer I am all too familiar with the statistics of teenagers killed in auto accidents. Though inexperience behind the wheel, distractions and alcohol all have a significant role in the high number of deaths- often times these auto accident fatalities happen in recreational vehicles not made for use on the roadway.

August 8th a 16-year-old boy and 22-year-old man were killed as they were struck in a hit-and-run accident. The victims were riding dirt bikes at high speeds without helmets or headlights on Golden Givens Road at approximately 9:15 pm. The white Chevy pickup truck made a left hand turn directly in front of the victims causing them to slam their dirt bikes into the truck. Both victims died at the scene as the driver of the truck fled.

Because the victims were not using headlights the driver most likely would not have been cited. Since he did not stop, however, police are now looking for the owner of the truck in association with this accident and the driver faces hit-and-run charges.

A friend of the victims said the older male had a young daughter and the younger victim had just celebrated his 16th birthday over the weekend.

My thoughts go out to all those affected by this tragedy. Losing a close friend or family member is extremely difficult particularly when the life is cut so short- just a few days after the 16th birthday.
