Hood Canal Fatal Auto Accident | Bellevue Personal Injury Law Firm
Drivers who fail to yield at stop signs contribute in making the streets of Washington a dangerous place to drive. I have been a Everett car accident attorney for many years and have seen the severe consequences that come from negligent driving through the many Bellevue personal injury settlements I have handled. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports that in 2009 alone, there have been about 33,000 car accident related fatalities. Many of these fatal crashes were a direct result of someone failing to observe traffic signs. On Friday, November 19th, two vehicles collided near Hood Canal Bridge. 42-year-old Daniel Paul Limestall from Tacoma was driving his ’06 Dodge Van westbound on SR 104 at nearly 5:00am. At the same time, 31 year old Anthony John Meissner from Port Ludlow was driving southbound on Teal Lake road in his ’03 Ford Taurus. Unfortunately, Meissner failed to yield at a stop sign and his vehicle converged with the Dodge van that was heading west. The vehicles collided at the intersection. Limestall was wearing a seatbelt and remained uninjured. His Dodge Van sustained a damaged front end. However, Meissner, who was also wearing a seatbelt, was transported toHarborview Medical Center in critical condition. He died hours later at the hospital. While car accident fatalities in the United States have decreased in recent years, the number of deaths that occur on the road are still overwhelming. Few people consciously realize that getting behind the wheel is the most dangerous thing that we do every day. It is important for Washington drivers to understand the consequences that result from negligent driving and how to avoid serious auto accidentsin the future.
