Inattentive Driver Kills Man in Vancouver | Clark County Car Accident Attorney
Anybody who has had to change a tire or do any kind of work on the side of a freeway knows just how unsettling it is to see cars whizzing by at high speeds. As a Seattle car accident attorney and Bellevue wrongful death lawyer, I have seen many examples of this uncomfortable scenario turn into a fatal car accident. Driving at high speeds on the freeway leaves very little room for error, so a split second mistake is really all it takes. As someone on the side of the road, there is not much that you can do in this situation, so if there is any way to avoid being there, I would suggest moving your vehicle away from the freeway. Wednesday night, a Vancouver man changing a tire on the side of I-5 fell victim to an inattentive driver who swerved right into him. The 52-year-old man was called by his wife, who had her tire blown out on the freeway to come help her. While he replaced the tire, she watched out for other cars, but there just wasn’t enough time for the man to get out of the way. He died at the scene. Police say that the driver of the vehicle stayed to talk with them and they believe the accident was caused by driver inattention. My sincere condolences go out to the family of this man, who have suffered a tragic loss. Accidents like these can be avoided when drivers are alert and paying attention to the road. In a case like this that is obviously a wrongful death; the last thing the family of this victim wants to think about is legal recourse. To help make the process a little less confusing and time consuming, I have co-authored a book with attorney Patrick J. Kang, which is a guide for families of Washington wrongful death victims. The book is called, In Case of Death: Straight Talk on Washington Wrongful Death, and is available at no charge to Washington residents by clicking on the preceding link. Leave a Reply |
