Man Crashes into House While Texting | Seattle Auto Crash Lawyer
Each year, many auto accidents are caused by distracted drivers. As a Washington car accident attorney, Bellevue personal injury lawyer, and the founder of Teens against Distracted Driving, I am continually reminded of the dangers of texting while driving. On Sunday, a man lost control of his vehicle while texting and crashed into a Massachusetts home. The incident occurred on Pleasant View Road in the town of Springfield. Luckily, no one was seriously injured in the collision. The driver of the Acura, Andrew P. Plourd, was taken to Baystate Medical Center for only minor injuries. The vehicle crashed through the front living room, causing considerable damage. In the impact, the heating pipes were broken. There is also some damage to the living room floor, the beams in the basement and the backyard deck. The total property damage is estimated at around $25,000. Plourd, 24, was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, impeded operation of a motor vehicle, and failure to use care in turning. We are glad no one was seriously injured in this collision. Texting is a very dangerous driving distraction that causes numerous auto accidents each year. So far, twenty states have instated texting bans and the number appears to be growing. If it is necessary to use a cell phone while driving, please pull over. Otherwise, save texting for another time.
