Marysville Motorcycle Accident Send Woman to Harborview | Everett Personal Injury Lawyer

As a Seattle motorcycle accident attorney and avid biker myself, I understand the risks motorcyclist take every day they hit the streets. A biker only has a helmet and thin clothing to protect them from the asphalt, guardrails and 3000 lbs vehicles they share the road with. Because of the limited protection a bike offers, a motorcyclist is 16 times more likely to die when involved in a collision than other motorists. Last night a Marysville motorcycle accident left a biker in serious condition.

The accident occurred Thursday, January 27^th shortly before 8:30 pm in Marysville when a car turned in front of a motorcycle. A 22-year-old Everett man was returning to the restaurant after a pizza delivery when he turned left in front of a motorcycle driven by a 42-year-old woman from Snohomish.

The woman was taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center with severe head trauma. The 22-year-old was uninjured in the accident, but was taken to a local hospital to be tested for alcohol and drugs.

A Marysville police officer who was driving behind the car at the time of the accident witnessed the incident and was able to quickly assess the situation and call for medical aid.

While many believe motorcyclist are simply not safe drivers- often times another, bigger vehicle is at fault in the accident and the biker had little ability to avoid the collision. There are, however, ways for motorcyclist to protect themselves from other drivers—by enrolling in a motorcycle safety course. In fact, 93% of motorcycle accidents involve bikers that did not take a training course. I urge you, if you are riding a motorcycle take a Washington motorcycle training course such as these posted by the Washington State Department of Licensing.
