Marysville Washington Girl Struck by Car | Seattle Car Accident Lawyer
Few things are as unequally matched as a human body and a car. As a Seattle pedestrian accident attorney, I frequently handle cases where a car hits a person, sometimes in a crosswalk, sometimes not in a crosswalk. Although it does happen that adults are hit by cars, in my practice I see a lot more children being hit by cars. This is probably due to their smaller size and sometimes questionable safety judgment. Wednesday afternoon, a 10 year old girl was riding her bike in Marysville when she was hit by a car. The girl rode her bike between two parked cars into the path of the oncoming vehicle. According to Marysville police, no outside factors such as driving conditions, speed, drugs or alcohol contributed to the car/bicycle accident. It was simply a result of the driver being at the wrong place with little time to react. The girl was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and suffered severe personal injuries, mainly to the head. She is currently in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The unfortunate accident happened at about 4:35 p.m. in the 7900 block of 80th Avenue Northeast. In these situations, it is difficult to place responsibility on one person. The severity of the collision and the personal injuries inflicted could be attributed to the driver being inattentive to the road, fact that the girl wasn’t wearing a helmet, or that the girl may have darted into the path of the car. We hope for a full and quick recovery for the young victim.
