Motorcyclist Injured in I5 Crash | Seattle Motorcycle Accident Lawyer

Working as a King County motorcycle accident lawyer and Seattle personal injury attorney, I have seen plenty of examples of the inherent danger of riding a motorcycle. Motorcycle riders are more vulnerable in auto accidents, and because of this, motorcyclists need to be extra cautious on the road. Nearly 5,300 people died in 2008 due to motorcycle accident injuries, which accounted for over 10% of fatal automobile accidents. This number is exceptionally shocking considering the actual percentage of cars to motorcycles on the road.

Sunday night in Snohomish County, a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a chain-reaction crash while driving southbound on I-5. The motorcycle driver – 54-year-old, Charles Hoover – swerved to avoid a car accident ahead of him, but was ejected off the vehicle in the process. The car crash that Hoover was avoiding was between a pickup truck and a disabled vehicle near the border of Skagit County. Hoover was taken to Colby Campus of Providence Regional Medical Center Everett to be treated for serious injuries. The two drivers in the auto crash were said to have only suffered minor injuries.

From what was reported, it seems as though there was very little that Hoover could have done to avoid the accident, and I wish him all the best in his recovery. This is the unfortunate reality of motorcycles, though. A car would’ve acted as a buffer in case of an accident, but there is nothing to hold a motorcyclist back in an accident like this. Please be as careful as possible when riding your motorcycles.
