Mukilteo Boy is Critically Injured While Walking to School | Seattle Personal Injury and Wrongful Death Lawyer
Thursday morning at around 7 a.m a 14 year-old Harbour Pointe Middle School boy was struck by a car near a very busy intersection while on his way to school and suffered serious personal injuries in the car versus pedestrian auto accident. The boy was unresponsive when the paramedics arrived and he was then rushed to Harborview Medical Center. The boy was listed in serious condition Thursday night and his school officials said he suffered a broken arm and a broken leg. Nobody ever wants to see an auto accident, especially one that causes personal injury, but this is even more troubling because it involves a child on his way to school. The accident happened at Beverly Park Road which is just south of the Mukilteo Speedway. Parents, school officials, and the community have previously expressed concern about children crossing the road at this location as it is usually very busy. After the accident, Nikki Cannon, the Harbour Pointe principal, recommended that parents talk with their children about pedestrian safety. Cannon also talked with the boy’s family, who wanted the principal to offer several safety tips to the school and its students. This advice included ‘having children walk to school with friends, use crosswalks and be attentive to traffic and weather conditions.’ These are great tips that we all should considered and remember when walking on sidewalks and crossing streets. Hopefully the boy’s parents will contact an experienced personal injury attorney who can help them get to the bottom of why this accident occurred, and help get this young man’s life back on track. We hope and wish for a full recovery for the boy and our best goes out to him and his family.
