Negligent Driver Sends 2 to Hospital | Bellevue Personal Injury Lawyer
People are unpredictable. Sometimes, they are easily inspired to try something different. Other times, they stick to their guns when you would have expected them to flee. Thus, when you put a person in a car, you should expect them to act in just as unexpected a way as they would otherwise. Working at a Seattle personal injury law office, I cannot stress how important it is to be aware of your surroundings. The road can be a pleasant place, but when things go wrong, nobody can look out for you except yourself. On Friday, July 29th, State Route 19 was busy. About four miles south of Port Townsend, Andrew Lauzon had stopped his 1988 Jeep Cherokee SUV to make a left turn onto Parkridge Drive. According to the Washington State Patrol, Gayle E. McKenney, who was in a Ford Explorer, failed to see Lauzon’s Jeep, and collided with it at 2:57 p.m.. McKenney’s Explorer then swung out into opposing traffic and was struck by a gold Honda Accord that was waiting to turn onto SR 19. Lauzon and the driver of the Honda, 57-year-old Viva J. Tapper, were both airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. Washington State Patrol has concluded the cause of the multi-car auto collision was McKenney’s speeding. But life isn’t fair, and McKenney was the only person involved in the accident to remain uninjured. With any luck, Lauzon and Tapper will make a quick recovery. They were innocent bystanders in McKenney’s failure to anticipate the unusual. In the future, we hope that he remembers that as long as the road is populated by people, it will be different every day. To read about insurance disputes in rear-end auto accidents, click here.
