Yesterday afternoon in Federal Way, two kids were struck by a car while crossing the street with their mother. The kids, a 5-year-old boy and 20-month-old baby, were taken to Harborview Medical Center, where they are being treated for critical and serious injuries, respectively. The mother walking with her kids was not injured in the crash, and the driver was taken to the hospital with neck pains. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, but the driver of the vehicle did take a drug and alcohol test.

In a life-threatening situation such as this one, I wish the two kids and their family the best of luck in their recovery. As drivers, we need to understand just how vulnerable pedestrians are, and must always be alert when crossing intersections and crosswalks.
