Pedestrian Suffers Serious Injury In Gold Bar, WA | Seattle Personal Injury Attorney
Theresa J. Jefferson, 49, a resident of Ferndale, Washington was listed in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center after being struck by a pickup on Highway 2 outside of Gold Bar Thursday morning. “Jefferson suffered leg and chest injuries in the accident and was taken to Harborview in an ambulance,” said Trooper Keith Leary of the Washington State Patrol. Jefferson was struck crossing the eastbound lane of Highway 2 near Reitter Rd. at approximately 4:40 A.M. The truck, driven by Jerrod Pehl, 19, of Sedro-Woolley, struck her near the highway’s center-line, Leary said. Pehl saw Jefferson crossing the roadway and braked hard to avoid hitting her, but she continued walking in front of the truck. It is reported that Jefferson had been heavily drinking prior to the collision. Obviously, judgment is one of the first things to go when drinking. It sounds obvious, but as a reminder, those who are intoxicated should try not to enter the roadway. In fact, it is really a good idea for everyone to try to avoid moving vehicles when sober as well.
