On Friday, a 68-year-old woman was killed in a pedestrian- car accident on State Route 161. The tragic incident occurred around 11 a.m. in Puyallup.

A 19-year-old driver was pulling out of a business complex. She stopped for a pedestrian that was crossing behind her car. However, she did not see the second pedestrian and struck her. Sadly, the woman was instantly killed.

The State Patrol says the young driver will not be cited. They consider this a terrible accident.

Unfortunately, thousands of pedestrians are killed in auto accidents each year. We can all help reduce these numbers by watching out for cyclists and pedestrians. As the weather gets nicer, more people will be riding bikes and walking outdoors. So, please be careful.
