Road Rage Kills Innocent Man | Bellevue Wrongful Death Lawyer
I think that it is safe to say that road rage has gotten out of control these days. As a Seattle personal injury lawyer I know that we all have times in the car when we want to yell at the person who just cut us off or flip someone off for slamming on their brakes, but we don’t because that just makes the situation worse. But there are some people that cannot control their rage and engage in extremely unsafe driving practices, like trying to run people off the road or brake-checking someone that is following too closely. The Washington State Patrol and the Aggressive Driving Apprehension Team have worked hard to try and stop road rage incidents setting up stings and giving out tickets for everything from cutting people off to tailgating, but sometimes that just isn’t enough to stop serious offenders. Saturday afternoon 43-year-old Steve Lacey was killed in a horrific accident on his way home from Costco when he was caught in the middle of an extreme road rage situation. A 56-year-old man from Snohomish was intoxicated and trying to run another car off Interstate 405 when he lost control and slammed into Lacey’s car, killing Lacey almost instantaneously. Lacey was a software designer at Google and the loving father of two small children who had moved to Kirkland from England with his wife 4 year ago. Steve Lacey is an innocent victim whose life was taken away from him because a drunk driver was trying to run someone else off the road, and who knows what that driver even did to be chased down like that. Tragic incidents like this bring to light how dangerous road rage is and the serious consequences of getting angry on the road. Leave a Reply |
