Seattle Auto Accident Sends Girl to Harborview | Bothell Auto Crash Attorney
As a Kent personal injury attorney working in a Bellevue injury law firm, I’ve found that the most serious auto accidents typically involve high speeds. The majority of fender benders and crashes that result in minor personal injuries happen at speeds of 40mph or less, but most serious car accident and fatal auto accidents occur when a driver is driving above the posted speed limit. Driving at night increases these risks even further as visibility is greatly reduced and the driver may not see obstacles in the road until it is too late. A Seattle University student who was driving at 2:00am Wednesday morning found out the dangers of speeding the hard way. Driving towards the Mercer on-ramp, a 24-year-old female was the victim of a serious auto accident when she lost control of her vehicle, causing it to flip upside-down. When the Fire Department arrived, the driver was found unconscious inside her vehicle. She was removed from the vehicle and rushed to Harborview Medical Center for where she is being treated for serious injuries including a collapsed lung and shattered pelvis. Speeding is presumed to be the main cause of the accident, drugs or alcohol did not play a role. Unfortunately, millions of drivers put themselves and others in danger by speeding every single day. In fact, there are over 40 million speeding tickets issued every year nationwide and that is only a fraction of the number of negligent or reckless people speeding as many avoid detection. The consequences of speeding, however, can be far greater than a ticket. It is important for anyone behind the wheel to be aware that exceeding the speed limit reduces a driver’s ability to slow down quickly, makes it difficult to maneuver effectively around corners, and increases the distance traveled during reaction time. A simple way to avoid a serious auto accident is by always being mindful of your speed, especially at nighttime. Leave a Reply |
