Seattle Car Accident Attorney | Graham Man Dies From Falling Asleep at the Wheel
Getting behind the wheel when you are tired is one of the most dangerous things you can do. As a Seattle personal injury lawyer I know how incredibly important it is to always be at your most alert when you are driving, because the smallest mistake can take your life and others. Far too many people make the simple mistake of trying to drive when they are too tired and end up falling asleep behind the wheel. Driving requires you full attention because things can change in a split second and even if you just close your eyes for a few seconds in that amount of time you can cause a serious Seattle auto accident. Early Tuesday morning a 55-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was killed when police believe that he fell asleep at the wheel and drifted off of the road while driving down State Route 161. Washington State Patrol officers who were on the scene say that it looks like the driver had drifted over and tried to overcorrect when he crossed back over the road and crashed into a tree. But along with that, he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt either and as bad as the accident was there is a good possibility that he would have survived had he just put on his seatbelt. Accidents like this one are far too common but are completely avoidable and drivers need to be more responsible about making sure that they are mentally and physically capable of handing a vehicle before they start driving. If you know that you have a long drive ahead of you or that you will be on the road in the early morning/late night, make sure that you are fully rested. As a Seattle car accident lawyer I help victims get their lives back together after suffering injuries in an auto accident, but all too often the accident could have been avoided completely if the negligent driver had been mentally and physically prepared to get behind the wheel.
