Reckless driving and speeding can cost you your life and this week in Washington State too many people have learned that lesson the hard way. As a Seattle personal injury lawyer I have seen the damage and pain that personal injuries stemming from an accident caused by a reckless driver can have on a victim and their family. Regardless of where you are going there is never a good reason for excessive speeding and even if you do make it to your destination, you put hundreds of lives, including your own, at risk.

Thursday afternoon a driver, whose name and age have not been released, was killed when his car burst into flames after he crashed into a tree on Rainer Avenue North. Seattle police are unsure if drugs or alcohol were factors in the gruesome crash, but one thing that they are sure of is that speed was the main factor. Immediately after the crash a good samaritan tried to rescue the man from his burning vehicle but the flames and the damage to the car made it impossible. By the time rescue crews arrived at the scene the driver had died.

The good samaritan that tried to help rescue the man was injured by the fire and had to be taken to a local hospital. This loss of life was completely avoidable and now the driver’s family will have to deal with the unnecessary loss of a loved one. As tragic as it will be for his family at least the driver didn’t kill or injure anyone else.
