On Monday, a 67-year-old man died when he was run over in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant.

The 37-year-old woman backed out of her parking spot, hitting the man. When she realized what had just happened, she cried out for help. Officials had to lift the vehicle to get the man out. Medics tried to revive the man, but were unsuccessful and he died at the scene of the incident.

Investigators do not know what caused the accident. They say the man may have already been on the ground when he was hit. However, it is still unclear. Officials were unable to immediately identify the man.

We are very sorry to learn of this pedestrian accident. We offer our condolences to the victim’s family.

Traffic accidents can have a severe impact over a victim’s life. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 69,000 reported pedestrian injuries in 2008. These injuries not only lead to large medical bills, but they can also severely diminish a person’s quality of life. We urge all drivers to stay clear of pedestrians.
