Seattle Personal Injury Attorney | Seattle Firefighter Hit By Car
As a Seattle pedestrian accident lawyer I know that, while the summer months are the best for pedestrians and cyclists, they are also the most dangerous months. This summer Washington State has seen quite a few pedestrians and cyclists killed or badly injured on the roadways by inattentive drivers. This week a 49-year-old Seattle firefighter was struck by a car while he was helping an ambulance back up from 28th Avenue onto East Yesler Way. The driver, a woman whose name has not been released, didn’t see the firefighter because the setting sun was blocking him from sight. She was interview and released by Seattle police who have not decided whether or not they will cite her, but she did not show any signs of impairment, other than having the sun in her eyes. The firefighter did hit his head, and was immediately transferred to Harborview Medical Center where he was treated and shortly released. He is expected to make a full recovery. Working as a Bellevue pedestrian accident attorney I know just how lucky the firefighter was to have only suffered from minor injuries. Many Seattle pedestrian accidents end in tragedy and this summer we have already lost enough lives. As a driver it is crucial to always have sunglasses on hand and to be extra cautious when the sun is at an angle that makes it difficult to see. Leave a Reply |
