Seattle Snow Storm Takes No Prisoners | Kirkland Auto Accident Lawyer
As experts have warned, this is gearing up to be a harsh winter. In fact, it is expected to be the worst winter Washington has seen in 55 years. Being a Bellevue personal injury lawyer and focusing my practice on serious Kent auto accident cases and Washington wrongful death these harsh winters scare me as drivers take to the icy streets. Yesterday we experienced an extremely rare Seattle snow storm which has led to several accidents and slowed traffic to a crawl. Near Yakima a fatal auto accident occurred when a vehicle slid due to the snow and struck another vehicle. Two people died in the auto accident. In Seattle, a man was struck and killed on Interstate 5 because of the snowy weather. The man was working on his car along the side of I-5 when the accident occurred. It is not clear whether he was putting chains on his tires or pushing his vehicle when the accident occurred. A Pierce Country Transit bus flipped over near the University of Washington’s Tacoma campus after sliding down a steep hill. 12 of the 20 people on the bus where taken to a nearby hospital, but none have reported any serious injuries. Semis were experiencing great difficulty navigating the icy roads as one blocked all lanes on Southbound I-5 Tuesday morning just south of Northgate. And another closed off I-405 near Coal Creek Parkway after sliding. Even planes were having difficulty on the ground. A 747 slid off the runway while landing at SeaTac yesterday afternoon. Snow itself is hazardous, but after a steady snowfall like we experienced November 22nd, freezing temperatures add ice to the equation making for a very difficult commute. If you do not need to be out on the roads I encourage you to stay home and enjoy the snow from the comfort of your own home. Leave a Reply |
