Wednesday afternoon, a high speed vehicle caused a 6-car pile-up in Vancouver, Washington. The driver of the vehicle was intoxicated at the time of the collision.

Monica White, 25, was driving eastbound on NE Padden parkway when she collided into a line-up of 5 cars stopped at a red light. The impact crushed four of the vehicles and caused White’s Jetta to burst into flames.

The Vancouver Fire Department quickly arrived on the scene to clear up the mess.

Luckily, there were no serious injuries. White was taken to Southwest Washington Medical Center for precautionary reasons.

She was later arrested for driving under the influence and child endangerment. It turned out White had been drinking and was driving with her infant daughter in the car.

The collision caused significant damage. We are glad to hear no one was hurt. Thousands of people are killed in drunk-driving accidents each year. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 11,773 people died in alcohol related traffic accident in 2008. On average, someone is killed by a drunk driver every 45 minutes. Please, don’t endanger lives by driving while intoxicated.
