Spanaway, Wa Man Suffers Serious Personal Injury From Hit And Run | Seattle Personal Injury Lawyer

A 23-year-old Spanaway man, was rushed to St. Josephs Hospital with serious personal injuries after being struck while in a crosswalk by a hit-and-run driver.

Washington State Patrol responded to the incident at the intersection of Highway 7 and 152^nd Street, at approximately 3 a.m. The pedestrian was crossing 152^nd street when a car slammed into him, throwing him into the air causing him to land in the middle of the intersection.

Troopers say that the driver of the vehicle, being described as a white import sedan, didn’t even stop after hitting the pedestrian and instead turned south on Highway 7 and fled the scene. The suspect driver and his vehicle still remain at large.

This type of behavior makes me absolutely furious. Whenever you are involved in a collision, whether you believe you are at fault or not, you must stop and check on all other drivers, passengers or pedestrians involved. Not only is it your legal duty, but it is also morally the right thing to do. It is everyone’s civic and legal duty to seek help for those that they may have harmed. Failing to do so may not only result in civil liability but may also create grounds for criminal charges.

In this case, the driver may have had a legitimate defense. It may have been impossible to see the pedestrian, or he may have darted out in front of the car, but by fleeing the scene the driver has made a bad situation worse.
