Teen Drunk Driver Arrested for Vehicular Homicide | Seattle Personal Injury Law Office
As a car accident lawyer, Seattle wrongful death attorney and Bellevue personal injury lawyer I know how dangerous the road can be particularly when drivers choose to drink and drive. Even with the stricter laws regarding drunk driving and the increased patrols watching for drunk drivers, a drunk driver is more likely to be involved in a car accident than get arrested. The only thing worse than a drunk driving accident is when the driver was under the legal drinking age. A fatal car accident claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy early Sunday morning and leaves another facing vehicular homicide charges. A 1989 Ford Bronco carrying four 17-year-old boys was driving through Capitol Forest on D-Line Road when it left the roadway. The vehicle hit several trees and rolled over at approximately 2:30 a.m. totaling the Bronco. One of the passengers, Michael Conine or Centralia was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center, but died from his injuries. Alcohol has been confirmed to have played a significant role in this fatal car accident and the 17-year-old driver has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault and vehicular homicide. Accidents such as these are never easy to deal with particularly when the victims are at such a young age- having their license for only a year. As a parent raising two young boys myself, I dread the day when my two sons will take to the road and try their hand against the teen car accident statistics. Teen drunk driving incidents can be decreased simply through proper parenting. Studies show that teens with a strong no-alcohol message from their parents are less likely to use alcohol.
