Teen Killed in St. Mary’s Car Crash | Seattle Wrongful Death Lawyer
Nothing is more devastating than losing a loved one in a Washington wrongful death accident. It can take years to recover from the terrible pain of unexpectedly losing a mother, father, sibling, or even a child. For many, the experience can be truly earth shattering and life altering. On Monday, a 16-year-old girl was tragically killed after a Washington car accident in St. Mary’s County. Officials say the girl was forced into oncoming traffic after being rear-ended by a 1996 Lincoln Town Car. Around 4 p.m., Shelby Wood was driving a 2003 Honda Civic southbound on Point Lookout Road. As she approached the fairgrounds, her vehicle was struck by the 1996 Lincoln driven by Justin Macrae. The collision pushed her vehicle into northbound lanes where she was hit by a 2003 Honda Pilot driven by David Butler. The Civic then slid back into the southbound lanes and was struck a third time by a 1997 Dodge Caravan driven by Richard Smith. Wood was rushed to St. Mary’s hospital, where she later died. Schmidt was also injured in the collision and taken to a nearby hospital. Investigators do not believe speed or alcohol contributed to the collision. We offer our condolences to the victim’s friends and family. Losing a loved family member or friend is an incredibly painful experience.
