Texting and driving is about as dangerous as driving while intoxicated. So, you can be sure that combining the two will only lead to disaster. As a Seattle Personal Injury Attorney and the founder of Teens Against Distracted Driving, I was upset to learn about a recent car accident that involving alcohol and texting while driving.

In Cranbrook, B.C., the rollover collision claimed the life of 23-year-old passenger Ian Shepherd. The incident took place around 3 a.m. on June 11.

The 24-year-old driver drove into a cliff and then rolled over three lanes of traffic on Highway 3.

Sadly, Shepherd was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was instantly killed. The driver escaped the scene with only minor bruises.

Investigators say the driver had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit. They also believe he was texting right before the collision.

We would like to remind drivers that reckless behavior on the road can have very serious consequences. We offer our condolences to the victim’s family and will keep them in our thoughts during this difficult time.
