According to Arizona’s Pinal County Sheriff’s department a recent car accident was the result of texting while driving. On Wednesday, October 27^th, Jason Hair was driving near Arizona Farms Road and the Hunt Highway when he struck a Union Pacific Train traveling across the railway tracks. The vehicle flipped when it hit the train trapping Jason Hair in the vehicle along with his 4-year old son in the back seat.

Hair was travelling approximately 65 mph and texting while driving when the accident occurred. Because of his speed and distraction Hair did not notice the approaching train until it was too late- slamming on the breaks but still breaking through the railway arms and smashing into the side of the train.

Hair was taken to the hospital via helicopter and suffered from a head injury, his 4-year-old son was taken to the hospital, but luckily did not sustain serious injury.

It is incidents such as these that make the dangers of texting while driving obvious, but sadly drivers still continue to participate in this extremely dangerous behavior.
