Salinas, California – A four year-old boy was killed in a collision last night. The wrongful death occurred when a drunk driver rear-ended the car that the boy was in. The wrongful death victim was riding with his mother and younger two year-old sibling when the Honda they were in was struck from behind.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene and his mother and the two year-old were airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.

Dion Gussner of San Luis Obispo was the driver rear-ended the Honda the boy was in. Gussner has been booked into jail on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

I am the father of a four year-old as well. Upon reading this story my blood began to boil. The horrible loss that this boy’s family and loved one’s must feel would be unbearable. People always say that they hope something good can come from this, but what good can come from the death of a child at the beginning of their life. Worst of all, this probably wouldn’t have happened if Gussner had not made the choice to drive drunk.

I understand that Gussner’s friends and family will probably say that he is a good man who made a bad choice that had horrible consequences. I don’t care how good of a man he is. He killed a child because of a choice to do something that puts all of our families at risk. I hope Gussner is fully prosecuted and spends a long time in jail.
