Update: Hit-And-Run Driver in Fatal Auburn Crash Identified | Kent Injury Attorney
Serving as an Auburn injury lawyer in a Renton personal injury law firm I understand how some auto accidents are extremely difficult to prevent. Unexpected circumstances haunt our roadways as animals and other objects appear seemingly out of nowhere. The fatal Auburn hit-and-run accident that happened on Christmas Day appears to be one of these circumstances. The driver who struck a woman on Christmas day has been identified, but according to police reports indicate that the driver didn’t know that they had struck a person. The night of Christmas Day, December 25th, 27-year-old Sheena Watchman was killed after being struck by a car in the 1200 block of Auburn Way South. Watchman sustained severe injuries to her head and body and died at the scene of the accident. After hearing of the sad incident an 18-year-old girl and her mother contacted police and relinquished the vehicle for forensic testing. The 18-year-old driver said she was driving home on Christmas Day and reported to her mother upon arrival that she though she had struck a garbage can or some debris in the road, but with no visible damage they dismissed it until they heard about the collision and put two and two together. According to the forensic examination of the vehicle the damage is consistent with the victim’s autopsy results and witnesses have claimed that the victims was wearing all black and lying in the roadway before being struck by the vehicle. Other drivers have reported swerving around an object in the road. Toxicology tests have been taken of the victim and police are waiting on results to determine If drugs or alcohol could have played a role in the accident. Our hearts go out to the Watchman family and we can only further investigation will reveal why the young woman was lying in the roadway. Losing a loved family member or friend is an incredibly painful experience.
