After investigating, police have determined that synthetic marijuana played a role in the crash that sent 3 pedestrians to Harborview Medical Center. The driver of the Subaru that serious injured a couple and trapped an Art Institute student against a truck admitted to using synthetic marijuana shortly before the accident. Initial reports indicated the driver was unconscious at the time of the accident.

Last Tuesday, December 14th shortly before noon a silver Subaru driven by Travis Clinton Lipski went out of control down a hill at 1st Ave and Steward Street near Pikes Place Market in downtown Seattle. The Subaru traveled quickly down the sidewalk, first striking a 54-year old woman and hitting her 57-year-old husband. The car continued to travel down the hill with the man lying on the hood of the car until the man fell off about 20 feet later and then the vehicle came to a stop as it slammed into a produce truck, pinning a 25-year-old woman in-between the two cars.

The 57-year-old man remains at Harborview Medical Center in satisfactory condition, his 54-year old wife and the 25-year-old woman have been released, the latter with a fractured pelvis.

Lipski was charged with two counts of vehicular assault; one for reckless manner and the other for driving under the influence. He was released on 75,000 bail with drug and alcohol use restrictions suggested by the prosecutors because of his past history of driving under the influence.
