Sadly, we had a rough start to the week as auto accidents cropped up all over Washington State. Sunday Morning, a head-on collision left one person dead in West Seattle.

The car crash happened on Admiral Way Southwest at about 2 a.m. The driver of an SUV heading east lost control of his vehicle and drifted into on-coming traffic, colliding into a pickup truck. Unfortunately, the driver of the SUV died at the scene.

The driver, a 29- year-old man, and the passenger of the pickup truck suffered serious personal injuries. They were rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for recovery.

Investigators say that speed and alcohol may have contributed to the car accident.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2008, one third of all traffic accidents were caused by intoxicated driving and resulted in a total of 13,846 deaths in the United States. Paired with speed, even lower alcohol levels can dramatically impair driving capabilities and increase the potential for motor vehicle accidents.

We urge drivers to never drive after consuming alcohol. It is not worth the risk of causing an auto accident and endangering the lives of other drivers on the road.
