West Seattle Motorcyclist Injured in Hit and Run Accident | Seattle Personal Injury and Wrongful Death Attorney
On Wednesday afternoon at around 1:45 p.m., a West Seattle motorcyclist was injured in an auto accident with a van. The motorcyclist suffered personal injuries that were not considered life threatening and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. After the van hit the motorcycle, it fled from the scene and headed eastbound from Southwest Jacobsen Road and Beach Drive Southwest. The driver, a man in his 50’s, soon after fleeing the scene ditched his van and ran away on foot in attempt to escape. The man was seen running through someone’s yard and was reported and found by police. He was hiding between two houses in a nearby neighborhood and was taken into custody. At the time of the report it was unknown ifwhy the man attempted to escape from authorities. This is the classic example of making a bad situation worse. You are always better off staying put and facing the music. If you run after hitting someone, not only will you still have all of the same problems related to hitting the person, but you will have the additional criminal problems you have heaped on yourself by leaving the scene and evading capture. If you are involved in any sort of auto accident it is your responsibility to stay at the scene to speak to the responding authorities.
