Woman Risks Life For Ducks | Seattle Car Crash Lawyer

How much are you willing to risk to help out someone or something in need? Is helping a few ducks cross the road worth putting people’s lives in danger? As a Seattle personal injury lawyer I know that for most of us, it is a natural instinct to want to help a person or animal in need, but when you endanger the lives of hundreds to help a few ducks cross the road it may be time to re-think your priorities.

Last night in Lynnwood a woman caused a multi-vehicle accident when she stopped her car along I-5 to try and help a family of ducks off the road before they were hurt. But as much as her heart was in the right place, her head obviously was not. According to Washington State Patrol troopers she actually ran out into the middle of I-5 to try and corral the ducks which would have been fine if she had she been on a small country road with slow moving vehicles. After walking into the middle of the road, drivers tried to swerve around her, but one semi-truck was unable to move in time and ended up smashing into two cars, and killing two of the ducks in the process. And if that wasn’t quite bad enough the semi-truck that was involved in the accident jackknifed and fuel from the truck leaked into a nearby storm drain.

Troopers are deciding whether or not they will press charges for disorderly conduct against the woman, but regardless of that they warn everyone to stay in their cars and not stop in the middle of the freeway which puts everyone in a dangerous driving situation. The woman that stopped is extremely lucky that the lives of two ducks were the only lives lost last night; she could have caused far more damage.
