Q: While driving through an intersection, on my green light a taxi t-boned me on my right side. Do I have the right to go after the taxi company after the insurance settles like a civil suite?

A: The answer is no. When you say ’settlement’, I have to assume that you are talking about settling your claim with an insurance company. Before an insurance company will give you any money in settlement they will make you sign a full release of all claims. That release means that in exchange for the money you are forever giving up any right to sue or collect any other damages. That’s it. You only get one bite at the apple. That is why it is so important to make sure that you are represented by a good attorney because you only get one shot.
